WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SHARPEN ZERO TURN BLADES

I usually take my mower to my dealer. However, his prices just went up apparently for sharpening blades. I store my equipment in a storage unit because my home is a zero lot line. No room for a shop or storage area. Thanks for any help in this matter.

Jack it up, take off the blades then sharpen with an angle grinder. Flap wheel is easiest to be precise with but a solid wheel is more efficient after some practice. Harbor freight has super cheap grinders and wheels that will work just fine.

floor jack, jack stands, remove blades w impact, sharpen on jig w bench grinder, dress with a file, balance, dress with file some more, reinstall.

any time you sharpen with a soft surface…sanding belt etc. youll get a compound edge that wont be as durable. heating blades up by aggressively removing material is bad too. dont do that.

American Sharpener Model 5005 (it's angle adjustable) with 40 or 60 grit flap discs.

It's in a league all it's own. Nothing else comes close.

Get one of these Jungle Jack Lawn Mower lift Version 2
to jack up your mower. Remove blades, sharpen with angle grinder, and re-attach. I might also add that rotating your blades will aid in even wear. I generally place the blade that's closest to the discharge chute on the opposite end, and just move the other 2 down towards the chute.

Pretty happy with my Vevor blade sharpener.

it keeps the angle and is error proof. Which was a requirement for me knowing I’d find a way to botch it up

I either use the tractor to lift the mower or a car Jack under the deck. Depends what’s closer at the time.
Did you get the RGB knockoff or the All American knockoff? I don't think they sell the RGB one anymore.

been seeing good reviews on this one. it's half the price of the AAS which was always over priced for what it is. I bought the AAS, it's fine, i've made the money to pay for it, but here's an option for some of you wanting a bit cheaper.

there are now dozens of alternatives to the AAS available on places like amazon.

Screw that, you're saving 150 bucks tops for something someone developed and produced and is going to last you a lifetime. You'll never need to buy another one, ever. and you'd rather give the money to some cheaper ****ing knock off most likely from China who can't even be bother to change the model number of the product they stole and copied?

Dang, tell us how you really feel. Yes, the AAS is overpriced, it's just a jig, it's not some fancy thing.

This is the world we live in. When you need a light bulb do you call thomas edison or do you buy the cheap chinese knockoffs?

Love my AAS, but wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these if i need a 2nd one or a replacement. They are simple items that don't require a huge price tag.

I know what it is, I have one too. It required someone actually put idea to paper and then to production and then inventory and then sell and try and make some money. Try it sometime. It's not as easy as it sounds. I'd rather that be rewarded than the cheap knock offs that are really saving you nothing. if less than 150 bucks difference over a lifetime is that big of a difference in your life, you have bigger problems I guess so get buy however you have to. But for everyone else, you get what you reward I guess. Give you money to the guy that can't even be bothered to change the model number of the idea he stole. Sleep well.

When I purchased the Vevor and did a write up two months ago on it: below is a copy and paste from my first sentence of that review. Oh how I knew what was coming....hehe

Just wanted to share a short review on this blade sharpener.
1st: Yes I bought this Chinese Knockoff so hold your comments regarding that. I’m American and love my country, and if you think throwing a bunch of nonsensical words at me stating otherwise, it will just be disregarded.
