Hi everyone. I have a 80’s lawn boy 7071, promo model. I plan on putting it to work when it’s a bit too steep for my 4 stroke push mower. I also have an echo SRM 225 and a homelite blower. Both the echo and the homelite state they need 50:1. I use red armor for the most part. If I mix 40:1 is this enough for all of my machines combined? I mix by the gallon and I want to have one tank for all of them. I currently have a tank of 50:1 that I’m running through all of them and I’m debating on going a bit richer the next time I mix. Thanks in advance.

50:1 will work just fine even in the lawn boy.

You shouldn't have any problem running everything at one mix at 50to1. I have a 72 polaris sled that the manual says to mix at 25to1, I run 50to1 mix in it for the last 20 years. I remember back about 1975 going to get some mix for our johnon outboard and using straight 10 weight for mix.

Go to page 2 on this forum and scroll down to the following thread and I think you'll get your questions answered about 2 cycle oil and mixing ratio.

AvGas is NOT a good idea for any lawn equipment (I assume you are referring to 100LL). It has additives to prevent vapor lock and other things that are not only unnecessary but can also be detrimental to today's small 2-stroke engines. Not only that, but 100 octane fuel isn't required and can in reality run worse than 90-93 octane.

AvGas has been used for years as a "good idea" for local dirt track cars and other things, only to find out in the long run that it actually doesn't help anything at all.

Someone who has zero experience adjusting 2-stroke carbs (and no temperature gauge) to lean the mixture out is a great way to seize an engine.
