I wouldn't touch it for less then a grand. More like 1,500. If I'm cutting lawns for 50-100 acre I'm not mowing a hay field for less.

I am looking at this post bc today we mowed really bushhogged)exactly 15 acres with 3 zero turn mowers. We broke a belt on the snapper pro and had to finish with the two 61 inch scags. I feel we severely underpriced it. You say two hours!? You're clueless then bc it took us 5+ hours. 3 men, 3 mowers, 5 hours. I priced at $500 and I feel like that was way too little. So i thought I'd do a search.

I would say that go for $300 unless you have to trailer it there then adjust accordingly. Depending on size of tractor this could be done in 3 hours or less.

This isn't something you show up with the 60" 3pt. hitch mower.

I should mention I would be mowing with my compact tractor with 48" 3 pt. finish mower or 48" bush hog. You can beat up a ZTR pretty quick mowing this tall stuff. That said, it will definitely take alot longer to mow with the tractor. Thanks for the replies so far, keep it coming!

Good luck on getting the Job at the price you said. If you get it , contact a farm to do it for 300 and keep rest as a good profit

 

Some of you guys are waaaayyy too cheap I do my best not beat or cheat anybody but you have consider your cost of equipment forbid u break something that's going to cost you more than what ur gonna charge, let's face it Tractor, Zero Turns parts and repairs are not cheap

With a 4-5 man crew it takes us about 14 hours and we charge between $2,200-$2,600. Now in your case this tall grass is probably still green and it will be heavy for the mowers. How many guys do you intend on taking out there with you? If I'm doing 7 acers for this price then 15 acers would be charged at least the minimum of $5,000. That's just my two cents. I don't think you wanna go and give that price with guys like the ones on here saying they will do it for $375. Ha!

What are you mowing with can I ask
For me do 7 Acres thats a Hour of labor Green or dry
If its good grass I'll mow it and bale it for the cows to eat or sell it for $50 per bale

 

$5k? Seriously? Please say you were kidding, 15 acres isn't that much, although you might be there a good part of a day with a 48" mower, its not worth any more than 400/ tops.

Oh, my bad gentlemen. You guys are probably thinking just a huge flat surfaced 15 acers? The 7 acers I am talking about has hills and steep drop offs. 50% machine mowing and another 50% hand trimming. You guys would probably have to see it in person to understand our price. But for the desciption of work this thread is about, the person requesting the estimate would probably be better off hiring a farmer with a tractor. And paying him $100 for the job. $50 for fuel and $50 for his hard labor of sitting on the tractor all day. Ha!

 

I'll stick by my numbers and be in and out in less than two hours, either some of you have not the equipment to do this or your not in the real world, read what he described, its a hay field that just needs clipped before the season. Oh yeah we aint using a 52" zero turn either.

If he were able to operate at 4mph and 100% efficiency (read: driving in a straight line with no turns at all with a FULL 48 inch cut) he would do just under 2 acres per hour. Now realistically with turns and overlapping the cuts he's looking at closer to 1.5 acres per hour. Therefore it's 10 hours.

This is just an issue of figuring out how to do the math and doing it. Come on guys.

Alright, so not everybody has a 15' or 18' batwing.
I do several sites and have both 15 ft. & 6 ft. rough cut mowers.
In the past I owned 74" & 88" flail mowers but wanted something stronger and faster so that's why I switched to rotary style brush hogs.
Rarely do I charge by the hour, however one site I have is 42 acres and they pay $125 per hr. and it takes 8-9 hrs. tops.
Typical is a $250 minimum charge and that's a 5 acre field that takes one hour total from the time the tractor leaves the shop until it's back.
For you: if they'd pay $500 give or take that's about it. Find a farmer, better yet, who are you cutting this for: a farmer?

 

Now that's what I'm talking about !!!! You gotta consider Ur time and equipment

Heck I'd just buy one of those DR field and brush mowers on tv and do it for $150.

You are a lowballer, you could easily get $165 for it, that's enough extra to get a 12 pack and some smokes. It should only take 2 days with one of those DR's.

I like to bush hog with my Gravely 672 but these mowers are made for lawn grass. My 50 hp Yanmar tractor is what I need to use most of the time on pasture. Now I can and have cut 4 foot high pasture and 15 acres takes about 5 hours with my 72 inch cutter at most.
