Hello all. I'm sure this has been covered, just like every other topic, but for fun: When does your mowing season end and begin, and where are you located?:usflag:

Basically same here in Central IL. We usually mow from April thru Oct. This year has been different as I didn't start a lot of my yards due to weather until almost end of April. Also, basically haven't done much since the the beginning of October due to cold weather and way to wet to work. On the bright side, didn't skip a week at all May thru September because of all the rainfall. Has been a great year overall. The last two seasons have been very wet and have been good mowing years. I always worry though, because it always seems to even out in the long run. I hope the rain just doesn't stop and we become dry. Although we could use a dry spell right now espically for the farmers. But it is about to start raining as I write this.

If you include fall cleanups as a mowing season.....then sometime middle of november, but if mowing season means last time lawns need to be mowed and you mow it real short. ummm, my last lawn will be on monday. But I still have fall cleanups

Started March 23rd here. I mowed/cleaned up 8 today and have 8 more tomorrow. My townhouse complex has stopped all mowing but it will need it again. I'm looking at two more mowing/cleanups here I think. Its getting spotty. A few here and there. Definately slowing down but not stopping. 1 1/2 inches of rain here Monday and has been in the mid 70s last couple of days.

I mow pretty much year round - usually only one visit in Jan and Feb, bi-weekly in March and then full till from April until Dec when I go bi-weekly on most lawns. I service some properties more often in winter because they need shrub or bed maintenance.

I mow year round...Louisiana only has about 10-15 days of "cold" weather per winter....and even those are mixed between the mild days..between Nov and Feb I mow each customer once a month.

im in S. Florida and we are weekly from end of April-mid November. On irrigated/fertilized St. Augustine yards, unless we get near freezes, are still bi-weekly during the winter. Bahia yards are weekly from May-Octoberish and then go TBA during the winter. If Bahia doesn't get water, it can go 4-8 weeks b/t cuts in the winter.

I need to go far enough south where I can cut longer through the year but still charge the rates of the north. Need to find that equilibrium. Someone tell me where that is, and then you'll have some more competition. :D

In Grand Forks we (UND Landscaping) have started clean ups already and grass has been done for a couple weeks. Just lots of delays with rain/snow. Have gotten a ton of rain in the past 24 hrs and will continue until Saturday.

You cut every week April to November :dizzy: ? That's a lot! I cut 3 x per month April - October; 2 x per month November - March; Install a lot of winter annuals in November & summer annuals April. If the customer wants additional cuts he may request them.

^typically, yes. I actually start weekly cutting May 1. If a customer has irrigation and fertilizes year round on St. Augustine, you need to be cutting weekly until mid-November. Bahia started to slow down in early September, and I started going bi-weekly on that in early October, but St. Augustine is still growing to the point where it needs weekly cutting. Again, that is on an irrigated/fertilized St. Augustine yard. The "weed patches" as I call them are a different story.

I have all St. Augustine - so still mowing and with the warm weather we have had here in the Orlando area (92 yesterday) I do not see it ending anytime soon LOL - I do not expect to go every other week until after November this year! I agree with diamond that Augustine that is fertilized is a weekly cut till November - Most just recently got fert a few weeks ago and are still growing strong. Depending on the customer and weather December/Jan winter fertilizer can drive the need for weekly cuts too for a bit. Most of my customers still expect a edge and trim through the winter weeks even if it is not mowed - most are very much into that manicured look, so my season really never stops completely, just some weeks get much slower

That would be Cincinnati. Average 1.4 acre lot is 35-40 per cut, cut every week if it rains. Some cuts start last week of March. Usually cut all first week of april. Cuts are starting to slow, but I'll cut until around Dec.1st.

I don't wanna go all the way out to Ohio, so St. Louis suburbs would be the same criteria? Do they have KY Blue Grass there?
