[Fall cleanup]
- Clean out the flowerbeds, apply weed killer

- Cut back the perennials

- Shape up the hedges

- Cut back the burning bush in backyard and the bush in the front yard

+ Labor = $350
- Military discount = $35
+ Subtotal = $315

+ Haul away = $100

+ Weed killer application = $85

+ Job total = $500
Looks like the problem here is that clean out flower beds is not defined.

For this job the customer and myself knew what was to be done. They did not ask for the leaves to be cleaned up, I was just surprised at how many there were so I did not want to add more to the lawn by blowing them out.

I guess I would give them a quote for the fall clean up of leaves. Probably best to talk to them in person. No email or text.

Oh my man!!
Just blow the leafs into the yard and out from the bed a few feet.
Leave them for the lawn/leaf guy. It actually would save them time also.

Second this one since the lawn is already covered in the leaves. Once the leaves are blown out of the beds and into/onto the lawn (with the rest of the leaves), remove weeds as normal.

If you’re looking for extra income, quote a leaf removal.

Where do you put the clippings from cutbacks and pruning? Where do you put the pulled weeds? Wouldn't the leaves go to the same place? I think I'm missing something.

As a customer, if I noticed that a service left leaves or any other debris on my lawn, I would not be happy. You may get away with a few leaves if the lawn is a mess.

Here’s where good, clear verbiage makes the difference.

Sounds like the yard is already in need of a cleanup. If he cleans the leaves out and hauls em away, who says a windy day tomorrow won’t push all those leaves into said bed?

If I can’t have anymore communication with the client, and the yard were already pristine and clearly cleaned up for the winter by someone else, I’d get rid of the leaves and charge accordingly. If the yard is a leaf covered, I’d blow em into the yard, and still charge accordingly. But in all honesty, I’d either knock on the door or pick up the phone and be clear about the obstacles and options before getting started.
