For some reason I am having a terrible time with white grubs. They infest my lawn every summer, and the whole yard gets dug up by birds. What's the best way to eliminate these pests? They don't seem to eat the centipede grass in the pine tree area or the bermudagrass, just the zoysia.

Your best choice, --imidicloprid soil insecticide. Known retail as Scotts Grub Ex. Or Bayer Season Long Grub Control, commercially it is called Merit. The proper timeing is important. Put it down according to local recomendations to kill the grubs at the early stages when they are easy to kill. About June 15 to July 15. Do as a preventative--once the damage starts the grubs are big and tough--you can only kill about 25 percent after mid August.
