Having been in business for 10 years now. I 've been a orange (KUBOTA) tractor owner for almost 3 years . I'm on my 2nd one. I just recently traded my b7500 21hp 3 cylinder diesel for a New B7800 30hp 4 cylinder diesel I wish they had this in the first place I would have bought it over the B7500. the B7800 has awesome power, 3 range Hydro Trany, Inching for the 3point hitch, all around great tractor and it's priced less than JD. One thing I didn't like about JD other than price was the use of a lot of plastic levers and switches. The trade in value on them are great too. I paid 13500 for my b7500 and got 10000 for a trade toward the b7500. So if you must chose go Orange.

I have been using JD for forty years. The company is sound and there equipment is 2nd to none. You will pay a premium price to get it but the resale value makes that a little easer to live with. I have two mid sized JD that are forty years old that have never needed any major repairs. Well the 2020 did need a head gasket once and we did the valves while we had the head off but the valves weren't that bad it just seemed to make since to do it while the head was already off. The 1020 is still on the original clutch. There are pictures on this thread. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36715

I would first look at what dealerships you have close to you. Then talk to the guys around you. Farmers, others in the business to see who has had bad and good experiences at these dealers.
Then I would look at the financing available through John Deere or New Holland, etc....

Orange! I have a Kubota Grand L 3010, 30hp tractor, and it is awesome. The current model of the same tractor is the 3130. It is heavier than the B7800 others have mentioned here, but for what I do, the weight is a big advantage.
I truely believe you can't go wrong with any of the big 3 (Kubota, JD or NH) ...but when i had to make the same choice I went with the Kubota and have been very happy with that decision.
Sit in all the seats a time or two and get to know the dealer. That will be what clinches the sale. Go with a dealer you can trust. Hope this helps.

Cholmes - so true, so true.

I had several other landscapers tell me to buy a kubota. Which was hard for me to believe, since I grew up with deeres. I still have several john deere lawn and garden tractors from the 1960's.

Now that I have a kubota, I know why every one told me to buy one. Kubotas are more tractor for less money and never break down. My b7500 will go to my parents when I move out, to cut the grass, plow the snow, till mom's garden, etc. Because by then I am going to have a larger L series kubota. But I love my little kubota, I can take it anywhere.
