Identify the year of a Scag

Is there a site that puts serial numbers to years of scag mowers ? I have a Turf Tiger and a few others I'd like to know the year of.

I know I can download the manuals from the scag site, but don't know for sure if the manual year goes directly with the model year. I've looked all over the scag site and don't see a year guide.

I think it works the same with all serial numbers, not model number!
Look as your serial number

example:
250000513- made in 2005
260000513-made in 2006
270000513-made in 2007 and so on......
Look at the first and 2nd numbers.

Ok....I just bought a Scag Walk Behind Mower...My first one and I love it!!! But, i need some parts for so I am wondering if anyone could help me find out the year of my mower. All the sticker says is "Scag Model SW-13....Serial 0080" I can't find the year for that serial number anywhere. Please Help. Thanks

That is a pretty old belt w/b. It has a manual clutch? Most likely it is late 80's early 90's. The good thing is most parts have not changed much. I would download a early sw manual on scag's site and compare it to yours.

Major differences is 95 and newer has electric clutches and the current spindle. Older has the aluminum spindle housings. Side plates on the belt drive changed in the 2000's but could be interchanged I believe. Decks in 2001 and 2005 changed also.

I was told by a distributor Rep that SCAG didn't have year models....I thought that was weird..

Well each year they start the mowers with another s/n which would tell you the year it was made. Sounds like the distributor was dodging a question of old stock.

3900515 serial number from a turf tiger would that be a 2005?

Give the serial number to your dealer, he will be able to tell you.
