how about "CASE man enterprise"

or "CASE-cavators"

you could add a K instead of a C to give it that "Kaiser touch" but then people might not know you mean business....and paint your trucks power tan....then you have a company

man...breathing lead paint dust and primer fumes the last 2 days has my head in a fog...the IH is almost done though

I had similar concerns about the "pigeon hole" concept when I was struggling to come up with a name. Like you, I do landscape, homeowner, and contractor dirt work. So I made it simple and used my name along with "Dirt Work Services". This is pretty encompassing. "K2 Dirt Work Services" sounds pretty good. Not so good if you ever plan to go outside of dirt work. I know picking the right name is a lot more difficult than you would think.
Good luck with it.

If you keep the same contact info it wouldn't be as scary. A lot of guys list Excavating, Landscaping & Trucking in their name but it gets long and maybe cumbersome? I always think how it would look on the trucks or machines and every time you answer the phone and say your name to customers.

Hey ksss,Here is what I would do don't drop the Kaiser Skid Steer Services, but add a new division with a new name under the same parent company Like K2 Xcavation division of Kaiser Services. The big benefit is you get more advertising for not a lot more money. And if you want to sell your company you could sell the company with the name K2 Xcavation and keep the Kaiser Skid Steer Services part so your name is not part of it.A few guy do this around me with landscaping and dirt work they run two names under one company and one phone number.

I changed my truck signs and the questions started. I n ow need to add my old name in front of the signs. I was Yellow Dog Services which doesn't mean anything but I had a solid reputation. It is still my legal name but I switched my signage to "brushchipping.com" which better reflects what I do. I don't know if I did the right thing. Brushchipping.com is easier, I think, but I seemed to have negated 11 yrs. of name recognition with a few signs.

I would stay away from using “Xcavation” in the company name. Any time I see that spelling in the company name it’s usually some fly by night cowboy with no experience. My recommendations would be Kaiser Excavation and Grading Co. or Kaiser Projects LLC.

Ksss.......we have talked in length about this. My two cents in a nutshell: YellowDog's point is the one I am most concerned about - how to accomplish your transition into a new name with out tarnishing/negating established "goodwill". In the long run, no matter what you choose, if you provide confident ontime quality service, it doesn't matter what your business name is....and I believe that is what you have done and will continue to do.

I appreciate the input. I am printing off this thread. There are a lot of good ideas and points to consider.

I had thought of this years ago

Combat Excavation "Call us for a KILLER hole"

Your guys are in BDU's, you run around in a H1, paint all your equipment up in digital camo-----OK I am not serious but it has a roll to it.

On a more rational side, I may not be able to keep my name out of it. I am also considering more the separate identity. A lot to think about.

Get 'er done and get the website functioning asap and let Google work for you!!! Off my site, I have been getting at least one call a week for jobs ranging from $1,000 to two $11,000 bids last week. I know you are working right now and it is an inconvenience to tackle this, but don't wait till fall.......do it now to increase your presence come fall and winter............this website thing takes time to take hold and it is a pita to get it up and going...........allocate the time to do the things that are inconvienient to move your business forward........feel free to learn from my mistakes on my site: www.curtfranzenconstruction.com

coopers........not the BTI. Their rubber mounts are far different than most ho-packs and that is one of the reasons I chose BTI......I barely feel anything plus, that unit can swivel 360 degrees or lock into different angles. As far as breakers go, they are now coming out with newer generation breakers that contain 50-60% more of the vibration/impact in the unit itself vs. transfering it all to the carrier.....

what about rigby earth works or something,do you have some kind of place or thing that you love about where you are that can be Incorporated into you're new name.that military shiiiiiiiiiiii is fine but its not very unique.
