Hello,
I own two honda 48" wb commercial hydro mowers m/n HRC7013. I am looking to find information regarding parts... specifically spindles. Honda parts prices the spindles at $230 per unit. Ouch! I have heard that the decks were made for Honda by a third party. I'm hoping the third party company's spindles would be a match. Does anyone have any information regarding the origin of the deck and it's components that could help?

Thank you

unless the shaft broke or the housing exploded you should be able to fix it for 20-40 bucks in bearings.

Honda did make them, but it's been a good number of years back, 10 or so? I don't have much knowledge here but what I've read in the past... And that is that parts for those are very hard to locate as many are no longer available. If you can get them direct through Honda I'd bet that's about it. You may hunt around the net, or Ebay, and see if anyone has some that they have pulled off a scrapped machine that are in decent shape. That or go the direction you are already looking and find another brand that will fit and go with it.

I think they may have been made by Bunton. The machines look very Buntonesque. Obviously they got Honda engines and other touches. The one thing I question is I have seen plastic idler pulleys on some of the Hondas I have seen pictures of and cant say I have ever seen that on a Bunton.

I'll be dammed, I bough a 36" cheap last year and we are getting it going, one spindle needs bearings and the other has a cracked housing, as a dealer I almost shat myself when I found the rebuild parts would cost me $450 :dizzy:

Ill check my Oregon catalog for Bunton spindle that look similar tomorrow and report back.
Yah, have you checked if the parts are even available through Honda? Alot of stuff for anything that old is NLA.

Get a spindle out and start doing a bit of measuring and comparing to the Oregon book and you should find something that will work.

Bunton did indeed manufacture the HRC7000-series mowers for Honda, and they were based on a Bunton decks, so they share a number of parts.

It would pay to shop around for equivalent parts; I can confirm the MSRP for a 48" deck spindle is <gulp> $461.92. Part numbers vary a bit, depending the the frame serial number of the mower.

Caveat: I work for Honda, but the preceding was my opinion alone.

We have folks here who can correctly identify, name and replace every part to an engine, a mower, a transmission, have their own air tools, and can tackle jobs that are specifically "not recommended for the average backyard mechanic."

We have folks here who operate their own parts department, folks who have such an inventory they even sell said parts, operations that require spreadsheets to track what happens where, hard drives with folders full of repair manuals organized by manufacturer.

Unfortunately most of us can do little without having all model and specification numbers off the equipment.
Machine problem - machine numbers.
Engine problem - engine numbers.
This will aid in letting everyone know exactly what equipment you have and to give you a quicker and more accurate response to the problem at hand. We do have some Service Technicians here on Lawnsite and some have Technical Support at their fingertips but need model numbers to access proper information.

Thank you

If you have a machinist friend to fit the pulley to the spindle I would say definitely. It is a just barely too tight of a fit to force on with a large hammer and heat. Tempting though. May be their is a better option out their. I don't know. This worked well enough for me but I know someone with a metal lathe. May be local tech school is looking for a project
