New Stihl BG-86 leaf blower hiccups/dies when going WOT

I have a new Stihl BG-86 leaf blower that has had roughly 2 tanks of gas through it. I'm using 50:1 like the manual has said.

It cranks no problem, idles no problem, but when going WOT the motor wants to die. Bringing the throttle up slowly, it will run WOT no problem. i don't run it WOT for only short bursts 10 seconds or so. But it has no problems if you bring it up slowly running WOT.

Is it just because it hasn't broken in?

So I seem to still be having the issues after adjusting. I have done about 15 clicks counterclockwise so far and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Here is a video of it.

I pull the trigger and it's extremely sluggish to start and sometimes it will act like it's still going to die (the video didn't show it) but when it does I have to feather the throttle to get it to run up still.

Then when it gets going it still sounds like it's struggling.

Have I not adjusted it enough? Is it supposed to click when it turns the screw?

So doing some research on the bg86 tends to have problems with the spark arrestor but I'm only on my 3rd tank of gas, so it's hard for me to think it's all gummed up already.

Is there not anything you can do other than just feather the throttle to get it to run? Is the H carb adjustment something I can keep adjusting to get it to run better? Does the H screw click when it is adjusted?

Since it's new (on 3rd tank now) I didn't want to run it WOT for more than 10 seconds or so to give it some time to break in (was told it's pretty safely broken in around 8-10 tanks).

I just blow my stuff off after mowing with bursts of full throttle and 1/2 throttle blowing. I had run it for 10 min like that blowing off driveway and stuff and then took video.

Sounds like it's running lean on the low end. The "H" mixture screw doesn't come into play until higher in the rpm range. Return the high speed needle to the original position and open the low end 1/4 turn and see if that helps
Thanks.

I adjusted the L and it is running MUCH better. Once it got spun up it was still having issues vibrating and stuttering (you can hear it hesitates in the video some). I adjusted the H while it was running WOT (actually had to turn it right more). Now it hesitates only slightly while it is warming up. Once it got nice and hot after running for 10-15 minutes it goes away it seems. I am only running 89 octane. I'll make sure and get the better stuff next time and I bet it will run slightly better.

Thanks everyone for the input. Seems that it's running fine now.
