Purchasing a new blower I am considering the Stihl 450 over the 600 any thoughts?

I have heard the straps and back pad are not as comfortable as the 600. Any pros or cons would be appreciated. I already own a 600.

Actually the 450 has 2.9Kw engine power compared to the 600 2.8kw. The 450 has 57oz gas tank and the 600 has 47oz. The 450 weighs a little more at 23lbs compared to the 600 21lbs.
They are nowhere near $150 apart in price here. I'd have to go back into the dealership and check both again, but I know for sure they werre closer than that on price.

Power ratings mean nothing either. It's how the power is applied, which means fan shape and design as well as tube design. The 450 is a 2 stroke so it needs a bigger tank to be able to come anywhere close to running as long as the 600 on one tank.

Like others have said- go run one and you'll make up your mind quickly.

I own both. The next unit I buy will (again) be the 450. It has a superior blowing force, personally I think they underrated it. As for the straps on the 450, I have no problem, but I have broad shoulders (maybe that helps). The small, puny guys that work for me, like the straps on the 600 better.

Your gona hate me I am buying 2 br 600s on March 24th. I planed this move more than a year ago. I have a dealer that does a open house each spring and to get people in he does specials and one of them is br 600s at $399 each. I replace mine every 2 years.

If this is going to be a clean up blower used in fall and spring then you want the 600. If its just light duty then buy what ever makes you happy. I don't know the 450 model Sounds like it's the br 400 that later became br 420. I can tell you in fall one guy on a 600 was doing what 2 use to do on the 420s.

The BR 450 is a variation of the 430, and has a large diameter tube that is adjustable for length. The 430 is about equal to the older 420 magnum but the 450 is much more powerful than the 420. Both also weigh a LOT more than the 420 and more than the 600 even. Both the 450 and 430 are true 2 strokes too. The 600 is just a better BP no matter how you slice it.

I'm buying an electric start 450 this week... everything else has electric start but yet we still tear our shoulders out starting a cold blower everyday... a 24cc trimmer isn't nearly as bad as a 64cc blower, I cant wait to try it out, even if it comes with a minor sacrifice in power
