I have been told by several people that the redmax 8500 is known to only last for 100 hrs run time, and then it's all wore out,and used up. Several months ago I bought a redmax 7500,instead of the 8500 because of what I was told. The 7500 has good power, but I wish I had even more power!

Was a fed a bunch of B.S. about the redmax 8500?

Yes, I've had a 8500 for 6 + years and countless hours and I've only done fuel filter, spark plug, and air filter each season. Still in use today!

That's interesting since the 8500 has only been out for 4 years (late summer of 2011).

However, I can't see why they would only last 100 hours, nor why anyone would make such a claim. If that is all they are getting from them, then they are doing something wrong or using crap oils and fuels.

Whoever "several people" are sounds to me like they are biased in some way. I am not sure why they would make such a claim unless they had a bad one, tore it up in some way or maybe just biased against Husky/Redmax. All things break. Nothing I have found is impervious in the lawn care business. I have the Husky 580BTS and really like it. I was able to do a leaf job the other day in 3 hours that would have taken me closer to 4-5 hours with my smaller Husky blower(350).

Think I saw a sticker some where on my redmax 8500 that says it's rated for 300 hours of use. I've been told just to be accurate on fuel and oil mixing and only using better grade fuel and oil. I see guys running older(like early 90's or before) 2 stroke equipment often

That rating is how long it is able to be epa compliant, not how long it will normally last. After 300 hours, the engine, carb, and muffler will normally no longer meet the original epa regs it had to meet to be able to be sold.

Good point, when mine is due I'm going to just but a rebuild kit. Hour meters should be standard on blowers etc

As long as it's running OK, I wouldn't do anything to it. You, as an individual, do not have to keep it epa compliant after the 300 hour mark. It just has to be able to meet that goal by the OEM to be allowed to be sold here.

we ran the 7000s since i got in this 15 yearn ago . then like 3 year ago got our 1st 8500 , then year ago our 2nd . the 7500 are the best peice of lawn care equipment ive ever run !!!!!!!!!!! zero maintenance for years / high power / rugged / light / last a decade . i did not want to try a 8500 when we bought new . but after 3 year i know how much time the extra powerr has saved us = ALOT . plus enables to do a better job with extra power at stuff like blowin cobb webs off over hangs and gettin back in nooks n cranny . they weigh more but for me the extra weight just adds up to a bit more exercise which im all for .
now this fall a problem arose with our 3 year old makin loud noise which i dont think is from muffler . we gave it to our mechanic last week to work on at leisure because weve back ups so i dont know the issue but shall report when i talk to him

I regret buying the redmax 7500,and not the 8500. I guess I will just keep the 7500 until echo can come out with a back pack blower that has more power than the redmax 8500.
Echo needs to pick up the pace with blowers to keep with redmax. Hopefully someone will give feedback what the br700 stihl is like

Echo blowers start-up so much easier than redmax blowers. That's something I really dislike about redmax. The longer something takes to start-up makes the equipment look like a piece of SH*T!

So that would mean after about 12, 8 hour days of cleaning leaves you'd need a new blower. Nonsense. You've been fed B.S. or they're not mixing oil and fuel properly.

3 pulls for both the 570 and 580 when cold. 5 when extremely cold and only experienced that when blowing snow off of vehicles.

Anything less than a 8500 is a waste of time. I've been a fan of Red Max blowers since my first one, back when a 6400 was the biggest one they made. It blew my Sthil and Echos out of the water. The 7500 was a little better, the 8000, 8001, and 8050 were much better and the 8500 makes you get rid of anything that doesn't say 8500 on it.
