Stihl BR700 with Curved Tip - its like a whole new blower!

Hey guys,

So the Stihl regional rep came to my house for some product demos a few weeks ago, and we were discussing the BR700 and what I felt was a lack of scouring power. He turned me on to the curved tip that they offer for $11 (part # 42827086303 ). I went ahead and bought one and wasn't expecting much but WOW. I never thought a silly thing like this would turn a blower into something so much better. It scours AMAZING now (you can even rotate it to point "down" and it will blow even the most difficult maple seed propellors out of thick grass - something I constantly struggle with), and moves piles faster and better. The angle of the tip in relation to the ground changes such that it picks up the leaves better, and moves them further. Almost like you were crouching down using the blower. I love this tip - if you have a BR700, you need to buy it - its hands down a huge, huge improvement and it changes the blower completely

That's interesting. have you tried the 450 tip on a 700 yet?

Don't you find that it (the curved one in your pic) pushes rearward on your arm a LOT more though?

I have a curved tip I bought for my BR600. I used it for about 15 minutes, took it off, hung it up, and that's where it sits 5 years later. The one for the 600 had the same shape nozzle as the original tip for the early 600's, but with that curve on it, it was a real PITA to run for long due to the rearward and downward thrust it put off.

No issues with rearward pressure - in fact the MAruyama BL9000 is far more fatiguing to use on my arm (especially with the Tornado Tip) than the curved stihl nozzle. I really do love this thing, and believe me I didn't think I would. (I still dont like the stupid 4-mix, especially knowing that its on the blower simply because Stihl is a chainsaw company first and foremost, and in order to meet ASSININE EPA rules, they have to use 4-mixes in the blowers to offset the high volume of "dirty" 2-strokes in their chainsaw line)

Well, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch". I've gotten the hang of hemming all my pants. You can't buy any men's clothing on the rack with a 25" inseam. But at least I have the advantage of being better fitted to a leaf blower.

As for all you pole pruner advantaged people, well, I guess we can't have it all. :)
