Wondered what everybody likes best. Please state what mower, and whether or not you have a bagging system or just let the grass blow out the discharge chute.

I run high-lift/bagging blades on my mower ( 1991 JD Lx 172). I do bag but not a whole lot.

My OEM blades ARE Oregon Fusion solid foil high lifts!

I bounce between these and Oregon Fusion notched foil high lifts (eXmark Lazer style), depending on conditions.

I use the John Deere high lifts on both my mowers. They do kick up a lot of dust when mowing in dry conditions, but they leave an awesome cut.

I used to use the gator blades on my old bob-cat when I had that a couple years ago. They packed my bagging system better, so I was able to fit more grass/leaves in there between emptying. But they also seemed to clump more when I discharged wet/damp grass.

'10 Super-Z HT w/"B" deck -

Rotary Brand pt. no. 6441 - this is listed as a 3" hi-lift for a Dixie Chopper 60". Best all around blade I have found.

The new Gator G-6 - 3'' .250 thick. Has been performing well. I love 3" blades.

Exmark notched hi-lift performs pretty good. OEM's are the worst of the lot.

'course this is with the mandatory Hustler double-cut with all blades.

What are advantages of 3" blades vs 2.5" blade?
If my mower OEM blades are 2.5" can I use 3"?
'round here there are a lot of rock farms and .250 thick, 3" wide don't bend as easily. In halfway decent grass it seems that the cut looks better, especially on mowers that don't cut that good to start with (Dixie Chopper, Hustler). Put them on a Exmark, Scag, etc., might not cut as good.
Worth a try, but they are getting expensive.

They are going to be heavier as well. If your on the edge power wise, it may be the straw ....

I notice a BIG difference in power and RPM's just between .204" and .250" thick blades!

Take a look at the MEG MO blades. WE take less power /stay sharp 8 to 10 times longer / Out wear 3 to 5 sets of any other blades out there. Then knives are just $4.95. Blades are balance all the time when running so no more bearing trouble. I know some folks could not get them to work to there liking but 99.7% say they do work and we have a money back if we can not make them to work for you.

I run High Lift until it gets very dry and then swap to the Extreme Lift Blades. I am running a 735 Front Mount GRASSHOPPER and a 335 MidMount GRASSHOPPER. Both 35HP Vanguards.
