Never seen one in person. Guess if you want dated technology at a great price it would be a good buy. I read an article that Big Dog was made to compete with Bad Boy.

 

Once again, if its made by hustler why would I consider big dog - if I want that frame, seat, etc - then I would pay alittle more and get the oringial.

 

They sell chrome wheels and a spoiler on the rear....talk about stupid. Plus, for the same price you can get a snapper pro with the icd deck, a nice bobcat or smaller ferris that would outmow and be easier to get parts for anyday.

 

Flatlander I believe bought a big dog mower as well as goodgreen, I believe. They both seem to have good things to say about their Big Dogs.

I have a dealer near me that I have dealt with a few times, they have offered to let me demo a big dog mower but I just haven't taken them up on the offer.

They are such a new name to the industry that few have given them a try yet. If they can get their name out there, they may be able to get a small portion of the market.

 

I owned a 09 Hustler Super Z and didn't like it. Felt like it was a throw away mower (good for 3 to 4 years and then worthless). Big Dog started out with less warranty, have been told the deck didn't have as much reinforcements as Hustler, and no dealer around. Why would I even think about buying one?

 

Sounds more like someone from the company rather than a dealer. There's no dealer around. If I wanted a cheap mower I would go with a bad boy. At least they have been around a while. Also have dealers with in a couple hours. Not ideal but closer than none.

I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I wouldn't buy a Badboy, cheesy name. If I ran an uninsured business with door magnets and pulled my trailer with my wifes minivan then it would seem like a good fit.

 

I just don't see where the Big Dog line fits. There is nothing new or unique about them and it seems to me just to be another Z turn in a crowded market. A low price is one thing but I'll stay with Scag for quality.

 

I've seen a couple of Big Dogs down my way. Not too many though and usually by smaller operators. We run Exmarks (the Pro's choice), it'd take a lot of convincing or a really unpleasant experience for us to switch to ANY other manufacturer.

The Big Dog mower may be fine for the homeowner but will not hold up under commercial use. It's definitely not a commercial Hustler painted red. I'm not sure why Hustler's parent company would build this machine; it already has a homeowner line.

 

This boob may be onto something? Hustler and Big Dog are identical. Built in the same facility, same components, different colors. Look that one up!

 

The Big Dog mowers are just like any other mower. They have residential and commercial mowers. I say that at 1247 pounds the 60" X model isn't a light weight Harry Homeowner mower.
